Delete your account
Last updated: 26 July 2026
You can permanently delete your FilmFeed account and everything attached to it at any time. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone — there is no grace period and no way to recover the account afterwards.
Option 1 — delete it in the app
Open FilmFeed and go to Account → Account Management → Delete Account, then confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out.
Option 2 — ask us to delete it (no app needed)
If you have uninstalled the app or can't sign in, email [email protected] from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my FilmFeed account”. We verify ownership of the address and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner. We will confirm by email once it is done.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- your profile — username, display name and profile photo;
- the email address and any sign-in identities on the account (Google, Apple);
- all your ratings, reviews, Original Pieces and comments;
- your watch list, custom lists, favourites and Great Movies picks;
- your reactions, follows, friend connections and friend invites;
- your notifications, push notification tokens and notification settings;
- your daily puzzle results and any other activity tied to your account.
What is kept, and for how long
We keep almost nothing. The narrow exceptions, all of which are detached from your identity:
- Safety reports. If another member reported your content, the report itself is retained for up to 12 months so we can act on repeat abuse. The link to your user record is removed when your account is deleted.
- Ordinary server logs. Our hosting provider keeps operational logs (such as IP addresses in request logs) for a short period as part of running the service — typically under 30 days — after which they are rotated out automatically.
- Records we are legally required to keep. If a law obliges us to retain something (for example, in response to a legal request), we keep only what is required, for only as long as it is required.
Copies that other members legitimately hold — for example a screenshot someone took of a review — are outside our control, and deleting your account does not reach them.
Deleting some data but keeping your account
You don't have to delete everything to remove something. In the app you can delete individual reviews, comments, Original Pieces and lists, remove films from your watch list and favourites, remove friends, and clear your profile photo — all without closing your account. You can also export a copy of your data first from Account → Account Management → Export my data.
